Thinking Deeply

Every day I wonder, is this the change we have all been waiting for? The whole world is making drastic changes , including the earth herself, and we still don’t seem to notice. We currently have all the resources, money, technology and time , to change the world, for the BETTER! But, I’m not sure its gonna happen. We are all waiting for the sky to open up and the rays of light to come through and WHAM, its a bright new day. Not gonna happen. We must be the change. Change your space ,your attitude, your surrounding, your diet, your daily schedule, your mindset, your willingness to try something new. Do this and I guarantee you will be the change. Social Media is the new buzz word ,but it does have the power to connect messages and spread connective energy. So dive in and conect with some like minds…BE the change. This is a short burst of Kinetic Thought. Keep it moving!

Professional Volunteer

What is a professional volunteer? A question posed to me by one of my compadres. Well it goes like this; works very hard helping others, promoting different events, spends own money on things that don’t directly benefit themselves, have very long days, and long nights, and of course believe in service. Whats the problem with that ,right? The only problem is that it sounds like a job. It is a job and the compensation is nil. This does bring a lot of change and helps others ,but burnout and debt run very close by. This is comment ,or blog one in this dialogue about volunteerism. But wait, we just started, the good stuff comes next!

Greenhouse on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2012

permacultivate-mlk-day-2012

You can grab a free handful of fresh strawberries, graze on some herbs, and see how tilapia fish help fertilize lettuce in the greenhouse in Reading’s City Park.

A group called Permacultivate has transformed the building into a futuristic demonstration of how worms, fish, plants and people can work together to produce organic food, even in January.

Students from Alvernia University worked on their service requirement at the greenhouse on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

See it all in Ed Terrell’s video. Watch Permacultivate Greenhouse MLK DAY 2012 Video.

The greenhouse is open for visitors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Call Brian Twyman at 484-525-0290 for information.
